Malibu 400 Sightings

Below are photos of the various Malibu 400s that I have encountered over the last 8 years. I don't have many photos since I have come across so few of these cars. Several others that I have found have already been modified with such things as SS hoods and stripes so that they no longer resemble a Malibu 400, so they are not pictured here. Autumn Gold 1970 Malibu 400
4-speed in formerly owned by
JL of California. Car was sold to
a party in Canada in 1999 who unfortunately had plans to
convert it into an SS clone.

Cortez Silver 1970 Malibu 400 that I own. Future plans are to perform a frame-off restoration back to 100% stock.

4-speed for sale at classic car dealer in Illinois in 2005. Modifications include shaved upper body trim and added
domed hood. Note 400

Cranberry Red 1970 Malibu 400 4-speed in New York offered for sale on ebay in 2006. Car was in need of restoration, but was complete with original drivetrain. Car was also built in Canada and therefore verifiable as legitimate.

Another Cranberry Red 1970 Malibu 400 offered for sale on ebay in 2002. Modifications include shaved upper body trim and rocker moldings, and
added domed hood.

Artist's rendition of documented Monaco Orange 1970 Chevelle 400 that I own, as built by
GM. The car is actually a base model Chevelle, not a Malibu.
According to the build
sheet, it was special-ordered in
this 1969-only color. More information on the car can be found on the Rainer's Cars page

An extremely rare and
documented Cranberry Red
1970 Malibu 400 convertible,
owned by KB in California.
Note that this car was also
ordered with the D88 hood and deck stripe option, verified
by the build sheet.

1971 Malibu 400 4-speed for
sale at classic car dealer in Florida in 2006.

Orange Flame 1972 Malibu 400 for sale on the internet in 2006. Wheels are correct for
SS models.

 

 

   

Tuxedo Black 1972 Malibu 400 owned by Fred G. in Canada.
This color was not readily available for the 72 model
year, and had to be
special ordered.

This unique car was originally owned by GM engineer
Zora Arkus Duntov.
